personalized feedback
The Personalized Feedback sample demonstrates the Standard 2 sub-standards below:
- Personalizes feedback (support, growth and encouragement).
- Recognizes that student interaction with the lesson has instructional value and therefore encourages students to participate in leading the instruction and/or demonstrating mastery of the content in other appropriate ways.
Reflection
According to W. Fred Miser, feedback is an objective description
of a student’s performance intended to guide future performance. Unlike evaluation,
which judges performance, feedback is the process of helping our students
assess their performance, identify areas where they are right on target and
provide them tips on what they can do in the future to improve in areas that
need correcting. Most of my essay assignments require a first draft so that I can provide suggestions for improvement before their final paper. I try to be descriptive and detailed so that students know what they did and did not do. I also provide alternative ideas and examples so that it's clear what is required of them. Below is a sample feedback which includes an initial grade based on the rubric. The initial grading informs students which criteria they need to improve in order to get a better grade for the final paper.
