Pre- ANd Post-Tests
The Pre and Post Tests demonstrate the Standard 5 sub-standard below:
- Provides continuous evaluation of students to include pre- and post-testing and student input throughout the course.
Reflection
Before starting a learning unit, a pre-test could help a student determine how much he/she knows about the topic and which areas of the topic he/she knows more of and less of. This information can be used to design their learning path and focus on areas where they need more help. Below is a sample pre-test from my Critical Thinking class before I started the lecture on Inductive and Deductive Reasoning. To determine the type of reasoning, students need to identify first whether a statement is an argument or a nonargument. After we discussed the characteristics and difference between the two, I had students take the post-test using the same questions to find out how much they learned and if the instruction was effective.
