Reflection
Microsoft
Outlook/Office Procedures is an on-campus class that is in the talks of being
offered online in the near future. In my current class, students learn
effectively with demonstrations and hands-on exercises. This can be easily
translated to the online environment by creating screencasts and project-based
assessments. In the current class, we also discuss office planning and
organization issues that can be resolved with the use of MS Outlook so that
students can learn the functions in a meaningful way. This interaction can be
replicated online by using a discussion board but the text-based conversation
can be dry and isolating. Of course, using VoiceThread of is a much better
option. Students are have the choice to leave a text, audio and/or video
comments. I knew how to create assessments using VoiceThread before starting the @ONE Online Certification
Program. What I didn’t know is that it is good practice to start the
VoiceThread with detailed instructions of the requirements, grading and use of
the tool.
